Visitors to Thailand from most
western countries, including Europe, North
America, Australia and New Zealand are granted a
30 day stay on arrival. Other nationals are
required to produce a tourist visa and should
contact their local Thai consulate for more
details. If you need visa to enter to Thailand
and you will be joining Burma cruise, you will
need at least Double Entry Visa which will be
used when you first arrive Thailand and second
when you come back by boat to Thailand from
Burma.
To enter Burma (Myanmar) you
will need a visa. If you join our trip to
Myanmar (Burma), we will arrange everything for
you, but you will need to give us your passport
details in advance. You will also need to bring
with you 4 passport size photographs, 3 copies
of your passport & your visa fee of USD200.-
(payable only in CRISP, cash US$).
For the Andaman Islands all
foreign nationals must apply for a tourist visa
BEFORE arrival in India (with the exception of
Nepal and Bhutan). You must also apply for
permission to enter restricted areas (this is
essential to enter the Andaman's) at the same
time as you apply for your visa.

Documents needed:
Passport, your diver certification card, logbook and Dive
Insurance (Although the Yacht and the guests are covered by our
own insurance, Individual Dive Insurance is mandatory. Our Dive
center staff can assist you to subscribe via Internet). For Dive
Insurance you can contact DAN via the following region-based
links:
DAN USA
DAN Europe
DAN South East Asia Pacific A
medical certificate showing that you are fit for Scuba Diving is
required for PADI OPEN WATER STUDENTS boarding the cruise. If your
itinerary is tight, this should be obtained in your country of
origin. If you have time, a certificate can be obtained
inexpensively in Phuket or Bangkok.
Clothes and
Accessories:
With a minimum temperature of 27C you will need mainly light
clothes. Bath products, bath and pool towels are provided in your
cabin. Don't forget your sunscreen lotion and sunglasses, the sun
is super rising strong in this region!
Keep in mind that liveaboards, no matter how large, do not have a
lot of space for luggage storage. Most dive operators recommend
soft-sided luggage on the boat but will allow you to store extra
bags at the dive center. Since Liveaboards diving is casual, only
a few T-shirts, shorts, swim suits and possibly a sweatshirt for
the evening are necessary. Generally, the less you bring the more
comfortable you will be.
First Aid and
Medicines:
First Aid kit, Oxygen and specialized medicines for most common
ailments are available on board. Should you have any allergies
(medicines, food, etc) or counter indications to any medication
please inform us when making your reservation.
If you are worried about sea sickness, we provide Dimenhydrinate
on board free of charge. If you prefer a different medication,
please bring a supply with you.
Diving Equipment:
Air tanks, weights and weight belts are provided on board. You can
bring your own diving gear but if you prefer to travel light, full
sets of equipment are available for rent including wet suits (Shorty)
It is strongly recommended that you use a dive computer. Although
computers are available for rent, we recommend that you bring a
computer with which you are already familiar. Please indicate what
diving gear you intend to rent and your sizes when making a
reservation. (see rental prices in 'Schedule & price section').
Electricity:
On board MV Philkade we have 220V, 110V, 24V and 12V available.
Whatever your recharging requirements, just inform the Cruise
Director and it will be accomodated in your cabin. Guest cabins
are 220Volt and a 24Volt safety lighting system for emergencies.
Air & Water
Temperatures:
Air temperature: 25C - 35C, always warm, can be very hot and
humid, nights often cooler. Water temperature in the Andaman Sea
averages around 27C to 29C. Very pleasant although, sometimes
thermo clines occur. The type of wetsuit you need depends on how
easily you feel the cold and how many dives you make day. A thin
shorty or skin may be enough for a daytrip but on a live aboard
cruise you are better off with a 3-5mm full wetsuit.
Climate:
Thailand's tropical climate is influenced by the southwest and
northeast monsoons. There are three seasons: Dry (November through
Feb), Hot (March through May) and Rainy (June through October).
Diving is possible all year round, but there are about two weeks
each year when monsoon winds are too strong for safe recreational
diving. Except day trips around the protected and well sheltered
Phi Phi Island are on there regular schedules. Below is an example
of a typical year’s weather in the Phuket and Krabi area. It is
not a forecast! For an up to date forecast, click

you a dive briefing. They will present the dive site and diving
conditions, as well as some information on the aquatic life likely
to be encountered in each dive site. Please note that for safety
reasons each diver must dive with a buddy and be part of a group
led by a dive instructor or dive master.

Meals are a mix of Thai and International Cuisine. Should you have
any special dietary needs or restrictions, please let us know upon

the trip, or upon your return to the office.

Should you need any additional exercise after diving, snorkeling,
swimming and kayaking are possible in certain areas. For those
requiring some quiet entertainment, an extensive DVD library is
available on board.
